Stupid Architecture

People say you really appreciate a thing only when you lose it. Our whole department was just booted from our current building to another one, which the company has leased. The eariler building was nice, roomy, new with well set out offices and cubicles, wide pathways, plenty of ventilation and natural light .. the works. The new building has cramped cubicles, narrow pathways, lacks natural light, has depressing coloured innards and most of all is a pain to navigate in. The stupid thing is like a gigantic maze. I feel like I am a rat in some kind of weird experiment and I have to just bump and find my way around. No, really, I'm very serious. The building has been so idiotically designed .. it feels like the designer / architect / whoever purposefully tried to make it as hard as possible for people to find their way around. Absolutely noone is comfortable at moving around in this place. The first time we went there, it took me and my boss more than 10 minutes to find an Exit!!

So, back to what I started saying. People say you really appreciate a thing only when you lose it. Well, not in this case. This is like appreciating decent design. Puhhleez. Decent design is given. It ought to be atleast decent. If its worse, then you suck. If its better, you are cool. There is no way this is going to make me appreciate design. If you want me to appreciate it, show me a construction which goes beyond what is given. Always look up, not down.

Fuck SysAdmin.
All comps got spankin new OS users and user restrictions. Sysadmin purged all systems of unwanted programs and data such as hidden messengers (instant messengers are prohibited at work) and games. We have entirely new user profiles with respective essential programs installed. I don't give two hoots about my Gaim being deleted .. BUT GIVE ME MY FIREFOX BOOKMARKS BACK!!! I had like 10,000 bookmarks filed away, okay more like 200 .. but I'm not gonna go any lower.
Please .. no comments about where to find firefox bookmarks .. as the whole damn windows user profile is gone. And none whatsoever about backing them up .. I have a back up .. 2 months old :-( .. and just thought yesterday .. I swear yesterday about making a fresh backup of all new stuff. I feel deflated. All that hardwork ...
