A few points to note

I was in Boston this week, and here are some notes..

  • I have gone 19 flights without having a female sit next to me.
  • In Boston, apparently it is mandatory to have an iPod if you are going to walk.
  • American Airlines gave me a meal in-flight for $3.00 -- a few small salami slices, 2 crackers, some cheese, a little dried something and 2 Oreo cookies. Since when does that constitue a meal??
  • Independence Air is much better.
  • Staying alone in a so-so hotel in a strange, cold city sucks.
  • The Starbucks hot chocolate .. whatever it is called .. is pretty good.
  • I am sleepy now. Gnite.

Now Showing .. HIV vs Cancer

Now, scientists at UCLA have a novel approach in the fight against cancer. Quite an interesting approach.. to use a virus to do the work of a drug .. sort of. It will be easier to understand if you recall your high school biology and remember how virii work. They search for host cells, make them their home and are frankly quite immune to any defense mechanism the cell itself may have.

The scientists added a new coat to a depleted HIV .. giving it a new target .. a molecule located on the surface of cancer cells. The virus effectively destroys this molecule and weakens the cancer cells defenses against traditional treatments like chemotherapy.

    San Hosay

I am in San Hosay for a few days. Caleefurnia rocks. I just dont understand what I was doing in the northern part of the US all this while. Its not like I havent been to Caleefurnia or Texas or Florida or Arizona or whatever before, but its just that I realized all my years in the US have been wasted. I should be living in the damn SOUTH .. where winter means it gets slightly chilly and you just have to roll your convertible top up when it rains.
Thats not the point of this post. At least not now. So I am staying with some friends .. deep thinkers both of them. Always a pleasure chatting with them .. interesitng topics and well thought of opinions which make you rethink your own view-point often. Heres one that I caught yesterday. Its very unfortunate that the English language had to be so popular. Imagine if any of the Indian (or other) languages which have extensive support for all pronounciations were popular .. it would have been so much better. Speech programming like text to speech etc would have been a breeze.
    Quite true. Na?

    The amriki Shiv Sena

The US state of Virginia passed a bill [sounds like passed a stone doesnt it?] yesterday, outlawing low-riding pants. If you display your underpants (in public) in an offensive manner, you stand to lose a neat 50 bucks.
I am going to refrain from commenting any more on this.

    Woohoo

First things first. Narain Karthikeyan all set to enter the F1 world. He will be driving for Jordan. I know this is sort of not new now .. but its just too cool for me to ignore it. I am awaiting the 2005 F1 season for one more reason. After a disastrous 2004, McLaren now has Raikkonen as well as Montoya for 2005.
Second things second. Watched the India-Pakistan cricket match .. 1996 World Cup quarterfinals. Remember? Jadeja, Prasad-Sohail??
    Woohoo!!
