Diwali and all that..

So I was all ready to write a post on how I have been getting tons of emails everyday -- each with a single line which says something like "Wishing you and your family a very happy and prosperous diwali". I was really tired of seeing "12 new messages" every day and then finding that 90% of them are diwali one liners, and the rest are forwards. Maybe its because this is my fourth diwali away from home, that I am missing out on the festive spirit and all. Or maybe its because I hate opening emails to read the same line again and again.

So, imagine my surprise when my sister sends me this. It made my day somehow. I played around with the lantern and lamps .. they are configurable and look sort of cool and certainly different from the standard stuff. Well, the surprise is actually that she always seems to send the best things .. whether its diwali or my bday or anything else. I have always looked at her as a kid sister .. still growing up, learning the ropes ... I realized something that I think I have been suspecting for a long time. My kid sister has grown up. Recently, I have seen her make tough decisions just as rationally and practically as I would have. And I am glad the way things are shaping up for her. Thats a diwali present if anything.

So heres wishing you and your family a very happy and prosperous diwali!! ;-)

Happy Diwali to you, Anya. I received that application from my sister-in-law. It is really nice. Put a smile on my face.

I thought the same... until i realized my younger brother was still a kid. He always treated me like his younger brother -- bashing up gangstas who bullied me, embezzling my monthly pocket money, somehow walking into my classroom by mistake. Or was it me who was a moron? :)

But hey, younger sibling are always younger, that will never change.
