When you are out of power, you protest. Thats the rule Indian political parties go by. No matter whether you are protesting against the same things your party came up when you were in power. The ruling party is enforcing it and you are not the ruling party, so you protest. Simple.
Now, this is not actually directly related, but SS activists burnt MSEB offices inAmravati as well as Pune. Now how ridiculous can you get? Theres a power crisis, you are a political party, so you set fire to the electricity board office. Wonderful.
Posted by anya at May 17, 2005 11:51 AM | TrackBackreally sucks!!!!!! d police shld et hold of those ******, n bring dem 2 justice ... i guess ppl shld realise theres only 1 decent party left now... n dats NCP!!! Vote for Pawar saheb!! :-)
Posted by: SJ at May 17, 2005 01:36 PMThis is perfect and absolutely justifiable.....do you know that pune does not have electricity for 3 hrs every day ..except sunday ...temp around 40C
...electricity is a basic necessity and peeps have been complaining for a long time but history has seen jab pani sarr ke upaar jaata haai extreme things like these are bound to happen ...offices will be burnt to make the govt. take notice...do you know what the temperatures in amravati are??
To make peeps at MSEB take notice and get a workaround for this office should be burnt i hope they burn more offices ...do you know how may crores of rupees were given to gopverment officials for dabhol project where enron came and took a huge dump all this is blamed ...atleast somebody is brave enuff to take a stance against the goverment.
This reminded me of the following story...
In Kanpur, a few years back....aam junta protested against the powercuts...i.e. they raided the electricty board (EB) and beat up EB employees...
Guess how the EB protested now...
They cut off electricty for one whole month...and Yes it was summer that time..
awesome..isn't it?
I think alpa is under heavy influence of hallucinating drugs and spreading fake stories ....hahaha this is a first EB cutting electricity for one month
Posted by: jai jijau at May 17, 2005 09:18 PMthe situation is really worse that it seems ..... MSEB was cutting power for 3 hours a day for more than 3 months now ...... last month they announced the power cut was gonna increase to 6 hours per day ........ the actions of the SS is not justifiable .... but MSEB and the Maha Govt. needed some sort of wakeup call ..... providing free electricity to farmers and not taking any action against power thefts ...... bullshit policies of the govt..... btw do know how effective the actions of SS were ..... there hasn't been a power cut for the past week now ..... the free power to farmers policy is gone ..... all the ads and hoardings are shut off by 10 ....... justifiable or not at least the SS did something good for the poor taxpayers and the bill-payers
Posted by: Maverick at May 17, 2005 10:21 PMwell well .. a lot of activity here!! see .. i am not disputing the lack of proper policies, or enforcement against defaulters or whatever. The power cuts are there because of severe power shortage. While proper utilization of current power will help, an additional power generation capacity is the actual need. I think setting fire to the MSEB office is childish .. no less. Lets see the SS try and get defaulters and power hoggers to pay their proper dues. But making a huge scene and stoking the emotions is easier - and pays back too.
Posted by: anya at May 18, 2005 12:11 AMRt now its daily 4 hours in Pune and then the next hour its on/off hour...they just play around trying various things and after 5 gruelling hours electricity is Back.
In our area they will be doing it in the morning from tomorrow.
6 to 10 :) No hot water, no toast-butter, no mixers, no fans, no TV :) no llight!!!
I think anya is the modern gandhi ...dude grow up and bcom subhashji chandraji boseji ....without violence these motherfuckin govt and mseb officials wont get their lazy asses to work ..biyatches.
Alright...let me be specific...My sister was residing in Kanpur that time...and a part of Kanpur was without electrcity for a month and not the whole city...
Posted by: Alpa at May 18, 2005 09:44 AMmaybe it was your sisters friends sister ...and maybe she din't pay the bill.....hmmmmm
Posted by: JJ at May 18, 2005 02:13 PMPpl should not sit in a well run country like the US and talk about the fuckall situation in Maharashtra.
Go home, sit in that goddamn heat for 4 hours and then talk.
ha hah. quite right actually. I am not experiencing the 'heat' so to say hmm? That doesnt mean I cant comment on it. Else whats the use :-P
See - my point is whatever the condition, burning MSEB offices is ridiculous. Do you think the MSEB has some 'extra' electricity 'stored' somewhere and this whole burning natak will prompt them to suddenly let it free?
