The Tatas are having a good time. Tata Motors registered on the NYSE a few weeks back, there are talks of investments in Bangladesh and China .. things are looking up. And now, I read this.

Yeah anoop, that price-premium bit is shady :).

Now did anyone know Tata also happens to own Tetley and I hear the brand is ctaching on like wild fire when it comes to tea bags. They're already the market leaders in many countries including the UK.

yeah .. TATA bought Tetley about 4 years back. Tetley was already a market leader in UK then. Me thinks only after TATA bought Tetley, it became popular in India.
About BATA .. yes, it is not Indian but Chezkoslovakian. Funny .. even I though for many years that it is Indian.

Might take a while before TATA cars hit foriegn land. They tied up with Rover to sell the Indica but its not doing that well. Its not going to be easy getting the TATA's automobile in foreign lands, esp the passenger cars. Indica plant capacity itself is proving to be insufficient to fulfill the demand from india. They made a 300% profit last to last year on the indica, but the other vehicles of TATA (sumo, safari and the 607's and the 407's have yet to reach the mark )
